Chase the Fear Out of Your Life
Romans 8:33
New International Version (NIV)
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
For meditation
Worry and fear are two instruments the enemy uses with powerful effects against believers. They are natural emotions everyone sometimes experiences in life. The uninformed believer exposes themselves to their power in life. It is a vulnerability we can avoid by choosing to inform ourselves about our Savior and what He has bequeathed to us in salvation. When you don’t know your authority, somebody will use it against you. That’s what the enemy does with the ignorant believer.
The sad thing is that ignorance is a choice. We choose not to know about something if we don’t take steps, for whatever reasons, to inform ourselves. We choose to be ignorant about Jesus and the riches of our inheritance in Him when we neglect reading our Bibles. It’s like being excited about a will but neglecting to examine its details. A neighbor could sell you your property.
We find some of the rich nuggets in the Will of Christ in Romans 8. When carefully mined, it shatters the believer’s fear of condemnation and rejection before God. It assures us of our solid position and security in Christ.
In Christ Jesus, God has given believers the right to stand before Him uncondemned. So, no one can accuse those He has saved (Jn. 8:33)?
He who judges the sinner has taken our place on the Cross and paid the penalty for our sins in full (Rm. 3:25; 5:8; 8:1). He has delivered us from every condemnation before God. We stand liberated and rejoicing into eternity. Your Advocate, Jesus Christ (1 Jn. 2:1), sits in the seat of honor and intercedes for you (Rm. 8:34). There is none better and able than He who is the Savior, Advocate, and Judge.
Why, therefore, are we so worried about people’s accusations? Why has fear paralyzed us about our eternal security in Christ as if their claims could nullify the atonement (Romans 3:25)? Is the blood of Jesus so cheap as to be wasted because of one sin a believer commits? Is God so untruthful (Jn. 3:16; 6:39-40)? Where is His faithfulness (2 Tim. 2:13)?
Believe that God is faithful, and His grace can carry you into His eternal presence. The enemy cannot handle such an attitude that neutralizes his trusted weapons of worry and fear.
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hands” (Jn. 10:28).
So, keep brief accounts with God through sincere confessions (1 Jn. 1:9), trusting Christ’s finished work for you. May the indwelling Holy Spirit liberate you from the fear of doom to sing God’s praises in Christ.
Shalom
Amen!
