Praying with Confident Assurance.

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.

Psalm 17:6

For Meditation

You know when a word jumps out of your reading and will not leave you? It becomes so personal that you begin to praise the Lord intimately. That is what today’s scripture has been to me since yesterday. I slept with it ringing in my ears, and I woke up this morning with it shouting at me to share with you. So, I have not been disobedient to the Lord, as Paul said in his defense before King Agrippa concerning the heavenly vision he received (Acts 26:19).

But what does the Lord want me to communicate to encourage you this morning?

God wants you to know that He loves integrity and that if you raise your hands to Him in prayer with your life dripping with unquestionable character, He will hear and answer you.

Integrity is not a façade for public display, while behind the scenes, you are compromising. As the saying goes, “Reputation is what you do when everyone is watching; character is what you do when no one is watching.” This is the truth David knew and affirmed in Psalm 17.

Surrounded by his enemies (9), David turned to God in prayer. He was convinced of his integrity because he knew that God had tried him but had found nothing against him. He had also purposed in his heart not to sin against God, and that he had kept himself from the ways of the destroyer (3). He knew he was not speaking with deceitful lips (1).

Confident of all these, David called on God to incline His ear to his prayer. “I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.” (6 NLT).

Is that your confidence in prayer this morning?

Shalom
