Authentic Christian Living

1 Corinthians 4:17

New King James Version

For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

For Encouragement

It is getting more difficult these days to tell if something is truly genuine. Amidst a sea of extravagant claims, discerning what’s genuine can be a challenge. It feels reassuring, therefore, when something actually lives up to its claims.

The same is true for our faith. People often look at how we live as Christians to see if our faith is real—the choices we make each day show whether our faith is genuine.

This is what the Holy Spirit teaches through Paul in 1 Corinthians 4:17. Can we honestly say that the people who know us best see our lives in Christ matching what we believe, no matter what happens?

Do our actions really show what we believe? Like Paul with the Corinthians, we can only ask others to follow our example when our words and actions match (2 Tim. 3:10). Paul was bold because he lived out his faith every day (1 Cor. 11:1; Phil. 3:17).

For example, Paul blessed people who cursed him, endured persecution, and showed grace to those who traduced him, just as Christ did. Consequently, he could attest that his life in Christ mirrored his teachings, both here and in every church.

Can we apply the same principle to our lives, striving to honor God in every aspect and at all times?

Out of His glorious riches, may the Lord “strengthen you with power through the Holy Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith” (Eph. 3:16); and may He “encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word” (2 Thess. 2:17) in Jesus, amen!

Shalom

Pray with Me

Father, please help me align my living to my confession of faith in Christ Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is for your glory and honor that I pray. Amen!
